In Star Lake, Wi

Later I learned something about your products. Over 20 years ago this restaurant caught fire. He and his family purchased the run down resort in the late 70s. The nearly collapsed dining room dated back to 1890. They spent two years restoring this to its original grandeur. A few years after they completed the restoration a fire started in the kitchen. The fire destroyed the kitchen, but never progressed far beyond the kitchen.

Between the kitchen and the dining room were the shelves containing Heath plates. The clay body absorbed enough heat to prevent the fire from advancing far into the dining room. It bought enough time for the volunteer fire department to put out the fire. The next day Will Hintz ventured into burned out kitchen and found the majority of your plates not only stopped the fire but they survived it. He still serves dinners on the same plates. The only remaining evidence of the fire is one charred piece of beadboard on the wall.

He told me about your products. They remained slightly out of my price range. I am a teacher and a potter. As a potter I love the aesthetic and the fact you charge enough to provide your artisans with benefits. As a teacher, I remained frugal. Two years ago I came across of box of Heath Moonstone plates. I purchased the entire set for 30 dollars. I love them. I cannot wait to restore the set’s missing pieces in the next few years.

I wish to thank you for the quality of your products. You should be commended for your dedication to the environment, and the rights of your employees. Thank you for keeping Edith Heath’s vision alive.

Thank you,
Andy Milbauer
